Abstract (EN)
Within the scope of this study, it is aimed to evaluate coffee, which is one of the most frequently consumed and popular beverages among beverages in our country and around the World, in the insulation material by considering the coffee wastes that increase with consumption. In this direction, the characterizations of untreated raw coffee waste, pre-treated microwave and ultrasound coffee wastes were investigated. Insulation materials were produced by adding 10%, 20% and 30% of untreated (raw) and pre-treated (microwave and ultrasound) coffee wastes into the insulation plaster. Thermal conductivity, acoustic/sound absorption, unit volume mass, fire resistance, compressive strength, bond strength and capillary water absorption analyzes of coffee waste insulation materials were performed. As a result of the study, it was observed by SEM, FTIR and TGA analyzes that the number of cellulosic fibers and pore structure decreased, the cellulosic structures were broken down and the coffee waste was made thermally stable with microwave and ultrasound pretreatment of coffee waste. In the thermal conductivity analysis, for the 30% waste dose, the insulation material containing ultrasound pre-treated coffee waste (UCW) gave the closest result to the standard value (non-additive insulation material) (0.07 W/mK) with 0.065 W/mK. Sound absorption values of raw coffee waste (CW), microwave pre-treated coffee waste (MCW) and ultrasound pre-treated coffee waste (UCA) insulation materials increased with the increase in waste rates. While UCW gave the best sound absorption value, it gave better results than the standard in CW and MCW. While it was observed that the unit volume mass values of MCW and UCW insulation materials decreased compared to KA insulation materials, all coffee waste insulation materials were in the fire resistant F90 class. While the bond strength value was closest to the standard (0.392 MPa), MCW insulation material was 0.365 MPa for 30% dose, while the capillary capillary water absorption value was closest to the standard (0.29 kg/m2.min) UCW insulation material was 0.279 kg/m2.min. In this thesis, a new environmentally friendly and recyclable sustainable product was obtained by minimizing the additives used in the insulation material by recycling the coffee waste, which is an important environmental problem and especially with a very high cellulose content, and adding it to the insulation materials.
