A sociological research on urbanization and urban problems in Tbilisi

The role of globalization in humanization is important in modernizing urban development that explored. The world now resides in cities. In the city, the interior and exterior designs of the spaces consisting of houses are different from each other. It is in the cities, in the critical parts of your life, together with those who come from the countryside. For this reason, urban consciousness has changed completely. The ever-increasing population has led to the emergence of new socio-economic or cultural problems in cities. In Georgia, which is a part of the global world, similar trends are seen, such as the emergence of different problems as a result of rapid urbanization. After leaving the Soviet Union, Georgia faced severe socio-economic and political problems. From the Soviet socialist economic model-central planning, state domination of property and means of production, Georgia switched to a free market economy model in the 1990s. The negative results of the privatization policy started in this process were experienced in the city. Unplanned urbanization, intensive constructions, increasing population, traffic and air pollution have completely changed the Tbilisi urban landscape. The economic crisis and devastating consequences of armed conflicts have been experienced in Tbilisi for the last 30 years. For these reasons, the understanding of urban consciousness and the urban lifestyle have changed significantly. Within the scope of this thesis, it is aimed to investigate urbanization and urban problems, values ​​and attitudes towards the city in Tbilisi. In this thesis study, in which the quantitative research method was preferred, the data were obtained by the survey technique. Using simple random sampling based on probability, a face-to-face survey was conducted with a total of 700 people from both districts. The data obtained within the scope of the research are socio-demographic characteristics of the city of Tbilisi, socio-economic situation, migration experiences, perception of urbanity and sense of belonging, level of satisfaction with the neighborhood, urban life experiences, urban problems, etc. sociological view has been examined.
