Özet (EN)
In this study, the effects of goldenberry and lupin on lipid peroxidation antioxidant system parameters of muscle, liver, brain and kidney tissues of streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats were investigated. Type I and type II diabetes was produced in rats by the streptozotocin injection. Albino rats were arranged into six groups, each group containing 10 rats: non-diabetic control, STZ-Diabetes type I, STZ-Diabetes+goldenberry type I, STZ-Diabetes+lupin type I and STZ-Diabetes type II, STZ-Diabetes+goldenberry type II, STZ-Diabetes+lupin type II groups. After one week from the injection, goldenberry and lupin have been injected to rats for 2 months. Malondialdehyde and glutathione, cholesterol, the fatty acid levels which are signs of lipid peroxidation, have been measured in these tissues. At the beginning and end of the study, postprandial blood glucose levels and weights of rats were measured. In type I and type II diabetes, malondialdehyde have increased when it have compared with control group. Glutathione has decreased in the other tissues and all of the streptozotocin-induced diabetic groups. In type I diabetes of erythrocyte, muscle, liver, kidney and in type II diabetes of erythrocyte, muscle, liver, cholesterol levels have increased. Treatment with similar doses of goldenberry and lupin significantly reduced postprandial hyperglycemia and oxidative stress, and augmented antioxidant system. When blood samples controlled, they have been shown that malondialdehyde, cholesterol values have been decreased and glutathione levels have been increased by goldenberry and lupin. In type I diabetic groups, palmitoleic, oleic and linoleic acid levels in muscle and kidney tissues have increased. In type II diabetic groups, although stearic and linoleic acid levels in muscle tissue have increased, palmitic, palmitoleic, oleic, arachidonic and docosahexaenoic acid levels have decreased.
