Abstract (EN)
September 2019, 75 pages This study was conducted in 2016 in the fig orchards in Tire District, an important fig production region of İzmir, which aimed to determine by using two different bait traps capturing rates of the sap beetles belonging to Nitidulidae (Coleoptera) family. Trapping were conducted by using vinegar and wine containing bait trap and bait traps including fig in six orchards. As a result of the study, seven species were determined including Carpophilus bifenestratus Murray, 1864, C. hemipterus (Linnaeus, 1758), C. mutilatus Erichson, 1843, C. nepos Murray,1864, C. obsoletus Erichson, 1843, Urophorus humeralis (Fabricius, 1798) from Carpophilinae subfamilies and Epuraea fuscicollis (Stephens, 1835) from Epuraeinae subfamilies. Synonyms, morphologies, distributions of these species and information about the plants collected on which were also given. The most common species are C. hemipterus, C. bifenestratus, C. obsoletus and U. humeralis were sampled in all orchards and the species E. fuscicollis (5 orchards), C. mutilatus (3 orchards) and C. nepos (1 orchard) followed respectively. A total of 5 362 samples which belong to seven species collected. 858 samples (% 16,00) were caught with vinegar and wine bait trap, 4 504 (% 84,00) were with fig bait trap. C. nepos reported previously from Bursa and Mersin provinces and this is the first record from local fauna of Izmir province. It is understood that there is a statistically significant difference between two different types of traps in catching sap beetles, and bait traps with fig are more successful in capturing the species of C. bifenestratus, C. hemipterus, C. obsoletus and U. humeralis than bait traps with vinegar and wine in fig orchards in Tire district of Izmir province of western Turkey. Although the observations on the feeding of figs are observed on fig fruits, it is more important to feed them through the opening in the fruit, especially during the ripening period. It should be seen in the orchards where the study is carried out, especially in terms of C. hemipterus, and its predominance numerically compared to other species.
