Abstract (EN)

The concept of theater, which has been active since the ancient Greek period, was changed by Bertolt Brecht in the 20th century. This new understanding of art, shaped by the social and economic problems that emerged after the industrial revolution and the ideas of Karl Marx, led the formation of the Epic theater. In this sense, stage elements such as decor, light and music used in Bertolt Brecht's plays were used as part of the ideology. During the research, the composers that Bertolt Brecht worked with in his works and his works were examined with a retrospective literature. The relationship between music and political elements in the works was evaluated. As a result of the analysis, the elements of alienation between the audience and the play, which are frequently mentioned in the previous works, are mentioned. Keywords: Bertolt Brecht, Epic Theater, Alienation, Marxism
