Abstract (EN)

Composite materials could be defined as the materials consisted of two or more macro components of which shapes and chemical composition are different and that can be dissolved in each other. Metal matrix composite materials can be produced in different ways such as mixturing, mechanic alloy, cast iron and infiltration. Eventhough cast iron method is prefered thanks to being cheap, it is difficult that reinforcement elements are scattered homogeneously. But it is possible to abolish these problems via mechanic alloy and mixture ,one of the powder metallurgy thecniques, which is a solid processing thecnique. It is possible that the demanded size and proportion powders are produced without causing a reaction on the interface of matrix reinforcement elements by the powder metallurgy process. Metal matrix composite materials are used in many industrial fields, which are exposed to wear, thanks to their properties. The necessity of determining the thecniques that are used safely in combining the Metal matrix composite materials which have a wide application field and are produced in diffirent ways, has revealed.In literature there are fine numbers of studies about developing and defining the welding methods which are used safely on combining the metal matrix composite which are produced with the powder metallurgy prosess. Besides, some problems are encountered while combining the materials,which have different characteristic, with the traditional arc welding process and specially it is almost possible to combine the composite materials wiht other metals. So as to minimize the negativities which has revealed while combining these materials with arc welding methods, if the shapes and sizes of the combined parts are suitable, friction welding process one of solid state welding thecniquies has great advantages because of not melting, including much less welding faults and composing less internal stress after welding.In this study, Metal matrix composite with Al matrix , reinforced SiCp and addition Cu have been produced with the powder metallurgy method. This produced material has been combined with AISI 304 austenitic stainless steel that has different charecteristic by the friction welding method. In welding combinings, which has different mechanic and microstructure charecteristics has been achieved by changing some parameters in certain intervals such as quantity of rotation, friction pressure, friction duration, condensation pressure and condensation duration. After applied investigations, it has been determined that producing and processing parameters have an important role on quality of combining and SiCp which is a reinforced part has influences on particul size and volume rate of connection strenght in combining the austenitic stainless steel and metal matrix composite with aluminum matrix by friction welding method. In this direction, it may be possible to increase the quality of welding using appropriate quantity of rotation, friction pressure and friction duration.In the first chapter of this study, the subject was introduced. In the second chapter, the information about place in the literature of the subject was given. In the third chapter, composite materials, production processes and of the combining processes were mentioned. In the fourth chapter, experimental studies, In the fifth chapter, the results of experiments are presented. In the sixth and final chapter, the general results were given.
