Abstract (EN)

In this study, the focus was on the analysis of seven different musical compositions by Azerbaijani composer Tofig Guliyev for the film "Bahtiyar," which is considered a masterpiece of Azerbaijani cinema art. The analysis encompassed various aspects, including rhythm, maqam (modal system), tonal structure, and form. The research adopted a case study design, which is a qualitative research method. This choice was made to allow for a detailed theoretical examination of the musical works in question. The data were obtained through a literature review and the analysis of audio-visual recordings related to the subject matter. The descriptive analysis method was utilized to interpret the data regarding the formal qualities of the compositions that were the focus of the research. The research findings revealed that the rhythmic structures of the seven musical works composed by Tofig Guliyev for the film "Bahtiyar" included time signatures of 2/4, 3/4, 4/4, and 6/8. Furthermore, all of the works were composed in a tonal structure for the piano, while simultaneously incorporating the Shur, Segah, Rast, and Bayati Shiraz modes within the equal-tempered system.
