Investigation of yield and quality characteristics of some popcorn (Zea mays everta L.) cultivars and lines in Kazova, Tokat conditions

This study was conducted in 2020 in order to determine the performance of 15 popcorn genotypes (Antcin, Aym260, Baharcin, Elacin, TBCM-2, TBCM-3, TBCM-4, TBCM-6, TBCM-12, TBCM-16, TBCM-19, TBCM-23, TBCM-32, TBCM-35, TBCM-41) " It was carried out in Tokat-Kazova conditions according to the "Way Randomize Blocks plan. In the study Days to 75% tasselling, silking, plant height, first ear height, number of ear per plant, ear length, ear diameter, number of grains on the cob on the order of number of rows, number of grains per ear, single ear yield, thousand-grain weight, grain/core ratio, grain moisture, grain yield, popping volume, percentage of kernel. The differences between Dec genotypes were found to be statistically significant in terms of all the studied characteristics, except for the number of grains in the sequence. The most important characteristics are; that the pooping volume was 18.3-33.8 cm3/g, the non-popping percentage rate was 1.2-7.2%, and the grain yield Dec between 385.0-740.0 kg/da. In the study, it was concluded that the grain yield harms the popping volume and the non-popping percentage rate decreases with the increase of the explosion volume. The TBCM-32 (33.8 cm3/g), TBCM-23 (33.0 cm3/g), TBCM-41 (32.5 cm3/g) genotypes came to the fore in terms of popping volume, while the Aym260 (%1.2), TBCM-16 (%1.2), TBCM-32 (%1.2), TBCM-41 (%1.4) genotypes came to the fore in terms of unexploded grain ratio. In terms of grain yield, the TBCM-12 (740.0 kg/da) and TBCM-2 (730 kg/da) genotypes were significantly superior.
