Synthesis and Characterization of Ball Type Phthalocyanines In this thesis study, 2',10',16',24'-tetrakis[4,4'-{propane-1,3diylbis[nitrilo(E) methylydene]}-2,phenyleneoxy] diphthalocyanine dicobalt(II) 2, 2',10',16',24'-tetrakis [4,4'-{propane-1,3diylbis[nitrilo(E)methylydene]}-2,phenleneoxy] diphthalocyanine dibakır(II) 3, 2',10',16',24'-tetrakis[4,4'-{propane-1,3diylbis[nitrilo(E)methylydene]}-2,phenleneoxy] diphthalocyanine dinikel(II) 4 and 2',10',16',24'-tetrakis[4,4'-{propane-1,3diylbis[nitrilo(E)methylydene]}-2,phenyleneoxy] diphthalocyanine diçinko(II) 5 was synthesized in two steps. In the fisrt step, dinitrile 1 was prepared by the nitro displacement reaction of N,N-Bis(salicylidene)-1,3propanediamine with 4-nitrophthalonitrile (1:2) in dry DMF as the solvent, in the presence of K2CO3 as the base, at room temperature. In the second step, the new ball-type metallo phthalocyanines were synthesized by the reaction of 4,4'-{propane-1,3-diylbis[nitrilo(E)methylydene-2,-phenyleneoxy]} diphthalonitrile 1 and corresponding metal salts [Co(CH3COO)2, Cu(CH3COO)2, Ni(CH3COO)2 and Zn(CH3COO)2] in the medium without solvent. In the synthesis of new ball-type metallo phthalocyanines (Co2Pc2, Cu2Pc2, Ni2Pc2, Zn2Pc2) were used 'hesting of the solid phase method. The structure of the synthesized compound were characterized using FT-IR, 1H-NMR and UV-VIS spectroscopy techniques. Key words: Ball-type Phthalocyanines, Bridged Substituent.
