Abstract (EN)

Gender is defined as the genetic, physiological and biological characteristics of a person as a woman or a man. Gender concept; two genders are formed in the form of social gender, depending on biological gender and cultural influences acquired from birth. Gender refers to the meanings and anticipations that society and culture have for women or men. Attempts to put certain forms of trial into culturally based individuals on the basis of sex are gender roles by individuals in the society. Gender roles place women and men in different roles in business and private life. Gender roles are influential in many areas of social life. Conflicts of gender discrimination between men and women cause polarization and disturbances between men and women. In this context, the issue of gender has been the main theme of many researches and maintained its update. This study aimed to determine whether gender perception is effective in the preference of department students. In the study, it was attempted to show how the Secretarial and Banking Professions and the Mechatronics Profession considered to be masculine were thought to be gendered, and how they were influenced by gender. In this context, research universities constitute 1. grade students of Adiyaman University Besni Vocational School Secretariat, Banking and Mechatronics department. It is revealed in this study that university students are not the only effective factor in gender as an effective factor in vocation selection. In the chapter preference, the findings about the family, the interests and talents of the person, the environment, the possession of work, etc., were found to be effective in the preference of the department. Survey method was applied as data collection technique. 200 (80% of the universe) students who did not want to answer the questions about the department selection, did not accept to participate in the research, did not come to the school when the research was done, left the school, left the questionnaire in the middle, and accepted the research were reached. According to the findings obtained from the research, 34.3% of the female students participated in the research had feminine gender role, 3.1% had masculine gender role, 56.2% had androgen sex role and 6.4% had ambiguous gender role . It was found that 24% of male students had a male sex role, 59.6% had an androgen sex role, 9.6% had a feminine sex role and 6.8% had an ambiguous sex role. In this study, the number of individuals with androgen sex role overlaps in order to study. According to the findings obtained as a result of the research; demographic characteristics such as age, family income, residential location, graduated high school type, reading section, reasons for choosing departments and department preference were found. In the section selection of the students; the fact that it is appropriate for the gender, fitness to physical strength and ability, and the ability to make a career are the most important factors affecting the preferences of the students.
