Abstract (EN)

When you look at the origin of sociology dating back to the nineteenth century, the concept of gender is not found. This concept, which was incorporated into the social sciences literature in the mid-1960s due to the influence of second wave feminism, has expanded its fields of study over time by incorporating gender stereotypes, the cultural construction of masculinity and femininity, and the structurally gender division into conceptual explanations. In this respect, gender, feminine, feminine and masculinity, i.e. masculinity, ultimately refers to what being a man and a woman means in the society in which they live. From here, this thesis work; It aims to determine how femininity and masculinity are defined according to different variables within the social structure – age, gender, educational status, place of life and life, income level – and to determine the attitudes towards gender discrimination and what is social awareness about sexual orientation other than the femininity and masculinity built by society. This research is planned to be based on data collected from field work in Turgutlu district as a quantitative field research. The universe of the study is a population of Turgutlu, aged 15 and above. The main factor in determining this age limit is to consider the conditions for gender identity formation. The probability-based layer sampling technique is preferred for the detection of the sample with the capability to represent the universe. The sample of the study consisted of a total of 384 people from 22 neighborhoods of Turgutlu district. This research consists of three parts. In the first part, the concepts of gender, gender, gender roles, gender perception, discrimination and discrimination, which are the focal point of the research, and the concepts of homosexuality in sexual orientation are explained along with the theoretical approaches to gender. In the second part, the literature summary is discussed by examining the studies in the field of gender. In the third part, the field study and findings of the research are given. Considering the prominent findings of the research, the definitions of femininity and masculinity, which is the first assumption of the research, differ. In order to test this assumption, 10 sub-categories (behavior and appearance, division of labor/work done, conceptual definitions, venue types, professional differences, musical instruments, branches of art, sports, descriptive features, types of intelligence) were created and the relationship between suitability by gender. has been revealed. The second assumption of the research, the relationship between the level of adoption of rights-based gender equality and socio-demographic characteristics, was discussed and partially supported. In order to test this assumption, three sub- assumptions were created and the relationship between the level of adoption of gender equality in the use of civil, political and social rights and socio-demographic characteristics was discussed. The third hypothesis of the study, the relationship between attitudes towards sexual orientation and socio-demographic characteristics, was discussed and partially supported.
