A theological glance at how the pious of modern period perceive woman in the conctext of social gender ineqality

People are born with their sexes given as woman or man. However, there is a variety of genders in terms of their social duties. The idea that the differences of behavior, thought, emotion, and even will between sexes are natural and thus unchangeable has resulted in a negative situation for women. In regard to overcoming this problem, the concept of social gender is often cited especially in feminist literature. The question of whether the social gender roles of men and women may change has a significant influence in the discussion of the problems of Muslim women. Beside examining the historical materials in terms of the technique of narration, the place of woman in the context of the Qur'anic text has been the subject of various discussions. Some contemporary works in the subject propose an egalitarian understanding based on human rights. On the other hand, there is another conception that does not view man and woman on the same ontological ground and restricts her to a secondary area of existence. It should be considered that this conception might not have been based on the Qur'an and the reliable sunnah, but rather generated due to sociocultural conditions and successive readings with patriarchal background.
