Abstract (EN)

In this research, it was revealed that a new social order had been established through the co-timeliness between the formation of the nation-state and the formation of the ideology of nationalism in the modern sense, which became a rising trend after the 19th century. In the study, the nationalist discourse has been considered as a source and trigger power factor in the formation process of the nation-state. In the new social order that is being set up in the interests of nation-states; the concept of ideal citizenship, created in the name of individuals to feel belonging to the nation-state and to adopt the nation-state as their own selves, has led the emergence of gender roles by systematically politicizing the sex of men and women. The ideology of nationalism and the nationalist discourse have been used as tools for the expansion and adoption of these gender roles. The nationalist discourse limited women's social roles to human beings who bred and raised new nationalistic individuals. This research revealed that the notion that women excluded from the public sphere may exist in their own family life and private sphere is a sexist approach. In this study, it was investigated that women and men who assume that they are biologically equal according to feminist ideology are perceived as womanhood and manhood under the influence of cultural and social approaches. The aim of this research is to examine the contribution of nationalist ideology in the transformation of sex concepts into the concept of gender and to criticize gender inequality in nationalist discourse.
