Abstract (EN)

This work, deals with the tombstones in Diyarbakir in the context of the reproduction of gender roles. This thesis, which problematizes the representation of hierarchies of patriarchal ideology on tombstones, examines how gender roles are reproduced througy these representations with the method of discourse analysis. The analysis of gender representations on tombstones takes place within the framework of a set of concepts that take in to account distinctions such as socio-cultural status and class positon. İn the sample analysis, it is determined that patriarchal ideology determines the social, class and cultural boundaries of female identity through representations on the headstones. İn the representations of tombstones, women identified by their ties with men are often referred to as "helpless", "weak", "powerless" and thus confirmed traditional gender roles. Keywords: Gender, Tombstones, Diyarbakir, Critical rhetoric analysis, Ideology, Identity.
