The change in social gender perception from past to present

In this study,it is aimed to examine the studies conducted on Social Gender Perception between 2004 and 2021. For this purpose, 110 studies consisting of articles, master's and doctoral theses written on Social Gender Perception between 2004 and 2021 were examined. To access these documents, a literature review was conducted on sites such as YÖK Tez, National Thesis Center, Google Scholar, Ulakbim, Dergipark. These studies were discussed with the sub-problems of purpose, place where they were conducted, year of publication, stage at which they were conducted, type of study, study method, study design and data collection tools. In this study, the document review method, which is one of the qualitative research methods, was used. In this study, which was carried out using the document review method, 110 studies, including 79 articles, 28 master's theses and 3 doctoral theses, were examined. The data of this research are organized under certain headings. The findings obtained under the determined headings were examined with the descriptive analysis method, and comments were made based on the findings. These headings are: type of study, year of the study, place where the study was conducted, research model of the study, method of the study, data collection tools of the study, numbers of data collection tools of the study, applied scales and applied inventories are the field of the study. As a result of the examination of studies, it has been seen that the perception of gender has changed positively from past to present. In the past, living a life strictly adhering to gender roles caused men to be at the forefront in working life, while women could only show themselves in the home environment. With the Enlightenment period, concepts such as equality and freedom between men and women were introduced in society, and the roles of women and men in society were discussed. The intensification of the discussions gave birth to women's rights movements, and the obstacles for women to enter social life began to disappear, albeit slowly. With the Second World War at the beginning of the 20th century, women took on the tasks undertaken by men, took more part in working life, and achieved significant professional success. During this period, men also left stereotypical gender roles aside and began to take on tasks such as child care and housework. Nowadays, as gender roles have become more flexible, gender perception has become more important. Societies have become conscious about this issue, and the awareness level of societies has increased. Despite these, since gender equality cannot be fully achieved, women still face various difficulties, especially in professional life, in issues such as wage inequality and employment. The process of changing gender perception continues with the aim of eliminating these difficulties and creating a more egalitarian society.
