Sociolinguistic indicators of gender - Tabriz sample

This thesis titled "Sociolinguistic Indicators of Gender – Tabriz Sample" aims to examine the gender in terms of language which is an important factor in culture. The methods and theories of sociology, linguistics, anthropology and gender to analyse the findings. Gender discourse which includes traditions, proverbs, idioms and folklore as well the features of language structure shall be examined. Moreover, language tricks, structures in language and meanings of words or sentences in daily life shall be explained with the theories of sociolinguistics. In other words, the vocabularies, idioms, expressions, swears and language structure used in daily life shall be analysed in terms of content. The relations between language and society shall also be analysed within the scope of gender. Tabriz within the borders of Azerbaycan region in Iran is an important basin for Turkish language and culture. The language use in Tabriz and its cultural structure is the research group of this study. The position of women and the reflection of gender discourse in daily life, public and private spaces shall be analysed in this study. Key Words: Sociolinguistics, Sex, Gender, Tabriz
