Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to determine whether the views of children and parents living in Burdur about traditional and digital games have changed significantly. In the study, in which the quantitative survey model was used, a questionnaire developed according to expert opinions was used as a data collection tool. The study population consisted of children living in Burdur province, the city center, and its villages, Bucak, Ağlasun, Tefenni district centers and villages, and their parents. The study sample was selected from this universe based on easy accessibility and volunteerism. The sample included a total of 556 participants, 236 from the city center of Burdur and its villages, 114 from the town of Bucak and its villages, 57 from the town of Ağlasun and its villages, 146 from the district of Tefenni and its villages. The opinions of the participants were analyzed by giving the number of people and percentage, and whether there was a significant difference between these opinions was determined by the chi-square test, which is one of the non-parametric tests. At the end of the study, parents traditionally, children digital; It has been revealed that women prefer traditional games and men prefer digital games. In addition, it was determined that parents played traditional games in open spaces, using natural materials, with their neighbors and siblings for more than 5 hours. On the other hand, it has been determined that children play with their school-neighborhood friends and siblings, respectively, in closed spaces, using ready-made materials, and spend less than 4 hours playing games. While the participants had similar problems in finding time, equipment and playmates while playing, it has been revealed that parents experience the problem of finding a place more. Participants stated that changes in social lifestyle and technological developments prevent children from recognizing and playing traditional games; stated that he restricted the playing of neighborhood and street games. In addition, it has been revealed that these changes and developments lead children to digital games, cause digital addiction, and this situation negatively affects children's academic success, physical, social, and psychological health.
