The interaction between social change and education

In this study the relation and interaction between social change and education is analysed. The main issues held in this study are the effects of social change on education and the effects of education on social change. The related concepts, theories, facts are analysed theorically. Starting from the concepts, definitions, theories, cases and facts of this subject, the study is limited with the historical development process of Turkish Educational System. At the beginning of this study in order to found a sociological approach, related concepts are defined and the past theories which were introduced about this subject were given. In the next stage the concept of education is evaluated in order to put out the interaction between social change and education. Its relations with society and its effects on the society is underlined. Besides the effects of social establishments on education and its leading for the social changes were tried to be clarified. As a result of this study the social change effects and as well is effected by education both from the institutional dimension and factual - eventual dimension. During this changing period sometimes social structure, institutions, events and facts become the cause for the change and sometimes the educational body or system starts the change and speeds it up. Therefore the interaction between these two concepts is observed instead of introducing a cause - effect relation. Thus the relation between social change and education is found out to be international. Key Words : Change, Social Change, Education, Education and Social Change.
