A satirical collection entitled '1256 tarihlerinde şuaradan' is registered in the library of the University of Toronto (Review-text)

The journals, qualified as the store of Ottoman Literature, are treasure-worth sources for literary community. As a result of the wealth and variety of these sources, some classification has been done. One of the journal classes that appeared as a result of these studies is the satire journals. In this study, a satire journal entitled "1256 tarihlerinde", which is registered in Toronto University, was analysed and then a transcripted text was presented. Journals were mentioned at the beginning and information about satire and satire terminology has been given. The journal is made up of 64 pages where prose and verse pieces take place. A humorous calendar consists of preamble and 17th, 18th and 19th centurty satire poets' poems of divan literature. The compositor of the journal is unknown and the date of editing is thought to be the middle of 19th century. In the first chapter of this study which consists of two chapters, general specialities of the journal was given and form examination has been done. Common specialties of poets and poems, satire and the usage of satire language, verse forms, meters amd problems about the journal took place in this chapter. In the second chapter, after doing the necessary explanations about the text, transcripted text has been given. A dictonary has been added in order to ease the interpretation of the text.
