Abstract (EN)

Decision makers should consider the prior information and his/her ownexperience about the problem in the decision making process. Decision makingprocess may end up with unexpected outcomes. The potential reasons behind theseunexpected outcomes can be insufficient information about the problem or become,in general, inadequate in addressing uncertainty perspectives of decision makingprocess. Usually decision making process is the selection of the most coherentsolution according to problem variables. The success of this selection is depends onthe ability of construction and the evaluation of the list of possible solutions.A physician is a person who is in charge of identifying diseases andexpressing required cure for the patients. During the decision process, a physicianuses his/her experience and prior knowledge. This could be advantage as well asdisadvantage because medical decision process may be affected by the mood ofthe physician. Those effects may cause irreversible problems which may even leadto death. In this study, our aim is to provide a better inference mechanism for medicaldecision support systems, especially in arriving right decisions for rare cases. In thisstudy, we suggest that using more than one inference algorithm in the probabilisticinference engine and combining multiple evidences about a given diagnostic mayprovide better decisions for the problem. As a result, our tests showed that our rulebased system can diagnose different kind of thyroid illness with the success rate%96.9.Keywords: Decision Making, Medical Decision Support Systems, Rule BasedSystem
