Abstract (EN)

Destruction of forests and natural areas to expand agricultural areas and the spread of unplanned urbanization along with the rapidly increasing population increase the number and negative effects of landslides. Landslides that can cause economic damage, environmental destruction, death and injuries cause fear in people. Precautions taken against landslides and people's resilience to landslides have an impact on the fear of landslides. The aim of this study was to investigate people's thoughts about landslides in agricultural areas in Trabzon, their fear of landslides and the factors affecting landslide fear. In the study, data were collected separately in six tea-growing districts and twelve hazelnut-growing districts in Trabzon. The data were analyzed with the SPSS program and ordinal logistic regression analysis revealed the direction and strength of the relationship between landslide fear and independent variables. As a result, in hazelnut farming regions, women's landslide fear was higher than men's landslide fear. While having landslide experience and landslide education was positively and significantly correlated with landslide fear in hazelnut farming regions, it was not significantly correlated with landslide fear in tea farming regions. Participants who think that landslide precautions in hazelnut and tea gardens are insufficient had a higher landslide fear. Participants who think that creating hazelnut and tea gardens cause more landslides had a higher landslide fear. It is expected that this study will give ideas to decision makers and managers to increase individual, environmental and infrastructure resilience against landslides in hazelnut and tea farming regions.
