Abstract (EN)
Trabzon, a coastal city, has a coastline of 119 km. Protection of the existing coastline is very important in terms of tourism, settlements and fisheries. The accretion amounts of the groins, which are frequently used as coastal protection structures along the coastline of Trabzon, was investigated with time, and the effects of the groins and their suitability for the purpose of coastal protection were examined. The effects of the groins on the accumulation of sediment on the shore were determined within the scope of the existing groin locations, directions, lengths, spacing, distances to the rivers and the shoreline change was analyzed. In the study, the temporal accretion amounts of the groins on the coastline of Trabzon province were determined between the years as-built (2000), 2012 and 2019. The data for the years of observation were digitized. The main factors on the accretion of the groins were determined by obtaining the changes that occurred with the created maps. It was determined that the proximity to the river and direction were the most effective parameters in the accretion of the groins.
