Advantage and cost analysis of safety measures that take to reduce traffic accidents

More than 500.000 traffic accidents happen in a year in our country. Approximately 6000 of these accidents result in death and 130.000 of these accidents result in injury. The loss of productive power and monetary on the account of the death and injury in traffic accidents become too much. For this reason to design safety roads, the traffic accidents must be assessed and safety measures must be improved. The accident rate may be reduced by low price measures. Small changes in road platform, intersections controls, improvement of traffic signs and signalizations may be example for low price measures. In this study, a program was written in Visual Basic programming language by using tables of FHWA(Federal Highway Administration) to determine the road section that requires improvement and to choose the suitable improvement measures according to the accident type and probable accident reasons.
