A Causes of traffic accidents and importance of public relations activities in prevention

The purpose of the present study is to identify the causes of traffic accidentsin Turkey. In fact, specific efforts have been devoted to determine andsingle out the role of miscommunications between police officers andcitizens during such accidents.Our survey results have clearly shown that there is a serious level of thelack of communication between aforementioned parties; consequently,citizens have negative attitudes towards traffic police officers.As a result, we concluded and advised in our study that police should realizeand understand the importance of public relations; therefore, utilize andspread more community-oriented methods and strategies while providingtraffic services in order to establish sound communications with citizens, aswell as to increase traffic safety.
