Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study was to evaluate the survival and success rates of teeth that secondary root canal treatment at the Department of Endodontics, Trakya University Faculty of Dentistry Hospital by examining preoperative radiographic images and postoperative radiologic and clinical findings at least 5 years later. This study included 496 patients who underwent secondary root canal treatment between 2015 and 2017. Preoperative radiologic and demographic data of the patients and postoperative radiologic and clinical data of the patients who re-applied to our clinic were recorded. The survival rate was found to be 73.5% for the teeth present in the mouth. The success rate was 79% for teeth that were healthy as a result of clinical and radiographic examination. Failure to apply the final restoration was the most common reason for extraction (p<0.001) and the most common reason for extraction in each group was fracture. The success rate increased significantly as the final restoration compliance increased (p<0.001). According to the results of secondary root canal treatment, the tooth can continue to function in the mouth for many years. However, further studies evaluating the survival rate are needed.
