Abstract (EN)

This study aimed to examine the reflections of usage of language with using pronouns in terms of traumatic experiences. 83 female and 18 male participants reported happy and sad stories by using certain language expressions and filled out "Traumatic Experiences Checklist". Language expressions were computed with Language Inquiry and Word Count software. All language expressions were computed and usage of "You" were distracted for further analyses with traumatic experiences. Based on the findings of the study, participants shared sad stories including "you" pronouns also reported more traumatic experiences in terms of the number of items. The results also suggested that usage of "you" pronoun can be associated with psychological symptoms of individuals with the relationship between trauma and generalization, distance, and empathy/narrative through language expressions as well as usage of "You" pronouns. Therefore, the current findings can be considered as contributive for further studies.
