Determination of publishing principles in the reporting of traumatic life events

The main purpose of this study is to determine the publishing principles in the context of trauma journalism in the reporting of traumatic life events in Turkey. In this study, the guidelines for reporting traumatic life events published in the field of international journalism were taken as reference for determining the principles. The reporting guidelines were analyzed through document analysis technique and reference themes were identified. In Türkiye, data was collected from expert panelists in three sessions with the Delphi Technique in order to create a foresight for determining the principles. In line with the themes of document analysis and the statements collected through the Delphi Technique, a pairwise comparison matrix was used to determine the principles. In the context of the trauma journalism approach, the opinions of field experts were taken to determine the importance of the themes and related criteria relative to each other. The data obtained in the pairwise comparison matrix was analyzed by using fuzzy logic, one of the artificial intelligence techniques, and Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP), one of the multi-criteria decision-making techniques, together. The statements that were agreed and disagreed in the classical Delphi technique were analyzed in accordance with the Eco-Delphi Technique. Thus, a prediction has also been made regarding the determination of broadcasting principles in the reporting of traumatic life events in Türkiye.
