Özet (EN)
In the excavations and surveys carried out in Tripolis Ancient City between 2012 and 2019, the daily life of the ancient people is shaped as well as the city architecture. In these studies, amphora finds, which were used extensively in storage and especially in trade, were the main subject of our thesis study. In this context, drawing, catalog and analogy studies of 331 works from the amphora finds uncovered during the studies between 2012-2019 have been included in the scope of the thesis. The typology was created by examining the parts evaluated as a result of the analogy researches under three main headings: imported, local and unclassified. This typology distinction provided important information regarding the commercial relations of the city with other production regions. It also allowed us to have an idea about the production activities carried out in the city. It is understood that the cities of Tripolis, Hierapolis and Laodikeia, which are seen to be in the foreground, especially local production activities, have close commercial relations. Tripolis, which is located as a hillside city on the edge of the Menderes (Meandros) River in Inner West Anatolia, has an important commercial position in the Lykos Valley. Apart from local production products and amphoras, it has been understood that it has a considerable commercial relationship with overseas cities, thanks to the different region and settlement amphoras found. The finds of Amphora were recovered from the structures showing public and civil architectural features in the city. Especially the arched building and sanctuary, which are public buildings, and the abundant amphora finds uncovered in the Mozaikli Residence, one of the civil buildings, are remarkable. Considering the historical process of the city and its architectural structures, it was understood that Tripolis was generally engaged in production and commercial activities between the 4th and 7th centuries AD.
