Abstract (EN)
The archaeological material formed by the "Tripolis Sculptural Works" revealed as a result of scientific excavation works carried out in Lydia Tripolis between 2012 and 2023, constitutes an important archaeological material group to be able to follow the social, political, and religious influences of the city reflected in art and its periodical development. It is understood that in Tripolis, between the 1st and 2nd centuries AD, with the increase in construction activities, the sculptures exhibited in the buildings developed parallelly to take their place in exhibition areas. In addition to this development, while an increase in sculptural works is observed between the 4th and 5th centuries AD, thanks to the Late Antique Period sculptures identified with their inscriptions, not only the pure art concept but also the results regarding the socio-cultural impact of the political structure and belief system in the city have been reached. Within the scope of the thesis, the sculptural works dating from the Late Hellenistic-Early Roman Imperial Period to the 5th century AD prove that the extensive sculpture repertoire in the city continued uninterrupted. Additionally, with the support of the stone quarries in the Tripolis territorium, the semi-finished sculptural works identified in the city, and the sculptor's signature, the existence of a local workshop has been proven.
