Abstract (EN)
The current study was planned and carried out to investigate the preference ofconsumers on furniture, their purchasing and using behaviours and problems concerningfurniture. Within the sampling, 512 volunteer consumers who were the parents of students atBatıkent Technical and Vocational High School for Girls in Yenimahalle, the city of Ankara.The technique of questionnaire was used to gather the data. The total mean scores of the subdimensionsof the preference of furniture purchasing features, of furniture using features, ofdecoration features at furniture and consumer expectations, and also total mean scores of theproblems concerning furniture were given. The fact that the preference of consumers overfurniture and their problems concerning furniture differ was examined through Kruskal WallisH Test and that it differs in terms of age, gender, marital status, education, average monthlyincome of the family, the status of ownership accommodated and the way of purchasing wasexamined through Mann Whitney U test. The relation between the problems of consumersconcerning furniture and their preference was examined through correlation analysis. In order totest the status of being affected from the preferences while purchasing furniture RegressionModel was applied.It was found that 45.7% of the consumers were in the age group of 40-49, 64.3% werewomen, 29.9% were high school graduates, 89.8% were married, 44.1% were married for 10-19years and that 48.4% had 2 children. Of the consumers, 39.1% had a household number of 4,41.6% had an average monthly income of 1001-2000 TL and 59.8% were the owner of thehouse they lived. It was found that the preference of furniture using features of consumers andtheir expectations differed (p=0.014<0.05) in terms of age while the preference of furnituredecoration features (p=0.001<0.05), of furniture using features (p=0.000<0.05) and consumerexpectations (p=0.001<0.05) differed in terms of gender. It was also found that the preference offurniture decoration features (p=0.036<0.05) differed depending on marital status whileconsumer expectations (p=0.014<0.05) differed in terms of average monthly income of thefamily and the preference of furniture decoration (p=0.049<0.05) differed in terms of the statusof ownership of the house lived.It was determined that the need and wish of purchasing furniture of 45.3% of theconsumers included in the research resulted from the talks and discussions made at home and55.0% of the consumers evaluated such things as durability, usability etc. after purchasing andusing the furniture with their spouse. It was also found that worn-out furniture was an importantreason (47.3%) for the need to buy new furniture and that out of the factors applied and affectedat the stage of collecting data and evaluation about furniture before purchasing it, earlierknowledge and experience was of great importance (50.8%).It was found that 72.3% of the consumers bought their furniture in instalments andchanged the position of it (81.1%) at home, the mostly encountered worn-out at furniture wasfractures at a rate of 49.6%. The problems consumers encountered while purchasing furniturewere inadequate informing (42.8%) of consumers at the purchase and inadequate experience ofthose working at the sale points (40.4%). One of the problems consumers met after theypurchased their furniture was that late delivery (40.4%) of the furniture. It was found that theproblems consumers met while purchasing furniture differed in terms of the ownership of thehouse lived (p=0.042<0.05). A significant relation was found between the problems consumershad after the purchased furniture and those they had while purchasing it (r=0.734;p=0.000<0.05). The regression model test that was carried out to test the status of affecting ofthe problems consumers had while purchasing furniture from their preference concerningfurniture was found significant (F=2.597; p=0.012>0.05).
