Abstract (EN)
"Active use of the museums where the accumulation of culture and knowledge of a society is preserved and exhibited carrries significant importance for the societies to upgrade themselves. It is highly important for the museums which act within the framework of social benefit, to be able to use modern marketing strategies in order to increase the number of the visitors, frequency of the visits, to diversify the purpose for these visits."The aim of this study is to find out the factors which affect the visitors? habits of museum visits and museum preference.Visitors have sharp differences in terms of demographic features and museum type.For this aim, 360 surveys in total have been carried out with simple sampling to participants 119 of which have been carried out in İstanbul Archeology Museum, 90 in Rahmi M. Koc Museum and 151 participants from general public. Data obtained from field study has been analyzed with the aid of SPSS. Data has revealed that visitors give preference to habits of different museum visits and different musuem types.Museum visit habits and museum preference may vary according to demographic features such as gender, marital stautus, age, occuptation, edutation and financial level.
