Determining the satisfaction of inpatients treated in Turgut Özal University Medical Faculty Hospital surgical service

Abstract (EN)
Patient satisfaction is defined as the main informative measuring authority showing the quality of care for the patient and "the level of patient's expectations' coverage"1. In addition to the above definition; the patient satisfaction can be defined as in general terms the services provided to meet the patient's expectations or defined as well as the perception of the patients for the services provided. This study is carried out to determine the status of satisfaction about the physical condition of services, doctors, nurses, and cleaning and food services for the inpatients in Turgut Özal University Medical Faculty Hospital Surgical Wards. A total of 140 patients participated in this sectional study. The survey is prepared to assess the satisfaction of inpatients, admission and discharge procedures, patient rights, medical services, nursing services, cleaning services, room comfort, and it was composed of 74 questions, including overall assessment of socio-demographic characteristics. Face to face interview technique was used in talks. Statistical evaluation of data was performed using SPSS 16 program. The ages of the patients who agreed to participate in the study ranged from 13 years to 81 years (n=126). The mean age of 38.0 ± (14.279) was found being the standard error. Turgut Özal University Medical Faculty Hospital Surgical Wards inpatients' satisfaction from the Hospital Services was found as 92.9% and satisfaction from the overall quality of the Hospital was found as 89.8%. The patient satisfaction from the medication provided by the Doctor care was found as 94.3%. The patient satisfaction from the medication provided by the Nurse care was found as 94.8%. Satisfaction from the cleanliness of the hospital was 94.6%. And satisfaction from the food services was 72.6%. In addition, the proportion of inpatients recommending the hospital to the other patients was found as 92.9%. As a result, major factors affecting positively for the overall satisfaction of patient care were the physicians' care and time allocation to the patients, nurse's attention and nurse's smiling face and being practical, cleanliness and comfort of the environment, politeness and respectful services, respect for privacy and providing informing to the patients.
