A proposal for the determination of folk clothings and standardizing of clothing patterns for dolls prepared as touristical gift items

In this study it is intended to examine and to prove by documents the localwoman?s clothing in Samsun region, in it?s districts and villages with regard to clothingmaterials, colors and technical and decorative features.The technical pattern drawings of the obtained clothing samples has been made,simplified and implemented on dolls to create prototypes in order to able to producedolls with folk clothing as gift items for tourism purposes.The working environment of this study is restricted by the reachable traditionalwoman?s clothing of the Samsun area. The sampling of this study consists of 32traditional woman?s clothing and their parts, thereby 6 of them are obtained fromMuseums Gazi and Samsun. During collection of data, literature survey has been carriedout, as well as photos of the pieces of found women?s clothing have been taken and thecollected data has been analyzed in regard to technique, color, composition and usageareas.The findings are as follows. The women, who still wear traditional localwoman?s clothing could not be reached. It has been seen that used or unworn clothingwas stored in cases for remembrance and in some places as decorative objects or wassubject to trade in antiquaries or in old clothes dealer shops.Based on research findings it is determined that the production of dolls as giftitems with traditional woman?s clothing of Samsun region could be easily realizedaccording to the standardized patterns of the prepared drawings of the samples found.This proposal may contribute to the regional economy and tourism.
