A study on the reasons of tourists? preference of all-inclusive system: Case of Antalya

Abstract (EN)
The purpose of this study is to put forward the main preference reasons of tourists of all-inclusive system while planning their vacation or purchasing a holiday package. It is assumed that, determination of reasons of preference of all inclusive system will be beneficial for the development of Turkish tourism and for the tourism establishments.In this study the questionnaire used by Wong and Kwong (2004) on Hong Kong tourists, for the determination of reasons of preference of all inclusive system is benefited. Data collected through the questionnaires in English and Turkish. While designing the questionnaires, 13 questions on the demographic information of the respondents were prepared and 30 close-ended questions in Lycert Scale method were included and surveyed.The research is conducted in two phases, as of pilot scheme and implementation phase. Pilot scheme is conducted through the questionnaires prepared in the direction of the information obtained from the 3 sector representatives, 5 hotel managers and 20 tourists. After the completion of the pilot scheme, since no scientific contradiction or errors were recognized in the questionnaires, the phase of implementation was initiated. The implementation phase is conducted through the participation of 387 tourists.The sample population of the survey is the tourists who are accommodating in 5-star hotels and first class holiday villages/resorts of Antalya city in all-inclusive system, in the period from September 2009 to July 2010. In this context, in order to increase the validity of the data and to make generalization to whole sample population, the first 10 tourists, who checked into the chosen hotels in the certain days of each month, were selected. Data were collected from 387 respondents.The findings of the research denote that, the first three reasons of the preference of all-inclusive system are: assurance of the non-cancellation of the package, price of the package, and various facilities included in the package. Additionally, according to the factor analysis, ?new experiences?, ?price? and ?features of travel? were the first three factors affecting tourists? purchase decisions of all-inclusive package tours.Key Words: Purchasing Behavior, Tourist Preferences, All-Inclusive System.
