Abstract (EN)
The aim of this study called ?the Relation of Tourism and Archaeological Excavation: An example of Troya? is to present that these two components interact with each other in a positive way in the relation of tourism and archaeological excavation, which has been hardly dealt with to date, and to put forward proposals by making a research on how to increase the number of the visitors to Troya in the scope of the balance of protection and usage with an approach different from the classical archaeological excavation approach.The study points out the importance of an efficient team work and the excavation policy followed by excavation leadership for the tourism and balance of protection and usage, thus it will be instrumental in eliminating the problems met in the archaeological excavations realized in the ruins of our country.For this study the relevant literature has been studied. Two visit to the ruins, Troya, have been realized with the aim of making an area study and due diligence has been done. An exchange of views with the staff of Çanakkale Museum Directorate and the excavation team vice president has been realized in the framework the study.The study points out the necessity to develop and implement a well-prepared Management Plan in Troya, where excavation works have been continuing for years, which has rich historical and cultural heritage, and which promises a great potential in terms of tourism. Management Plan is important in terms of its securing the constructive integration of tourism and cultural heritage. In addition to this, a museum complex to be constructed in the ruins will enable effective utilization of the area. Regarding Troya Historical National Park effective administration should be realized by employing experienced staff. Necessary steps should be taken in order to secure that Troya, which is on the list of World Heritage UNESCO, should create interest and receive visitors befitting to its deserved appellation.In all applications regarding increasing the number of visitors to the ruins by taking the relation of tourism and archaeological excavation into consideration, responsibility should be to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and also to excavation teams. A positive interaction to be constructed between tourism and archaeological excavation will both secure protection of the cultural heritage and conveyance them to posterity, and will make a great contribution in terms of publicity.
