The effects of tourism events on urban transportation network and solution (Reşadiye example)

Throughout the world the tourism movements has risen with the development of technology, varying transportation ways. In a conclusion of this rise, the trasnportation problems have occured at tourism centers. Especially at the main road, connected with tourism centers, the density and traffic jam have risen lately. So, the need of planning new destinations through tourism centers has occured. The primary tourism center İstanbul and other cities, Turkey's tourism centers, have made various transportartion plans and tried to find solutions fort the traffic density at tourism centers. In this thesis work, the effects of tourism events on local transportation is presented with an example of city, Reşadiye known with its thermal tourism and the solutions about transportation problems, are offered. Throughout the thesis work, the security cameras placed at entrance bridge, binding Reşadiye to D-100 main road, are used to count on the number of vechiles categorizing as months. The outcomes are discussed with various methods. After passing through the entrance bridge, there are two roads seperating to city center and tourism area. The vechiles that pass through that roads are counted manually. In conclusion of countings, the density of vechiles that go into city center and tourism area and defined and the level of service is figured with the help of those two roads and entrance bridge. Its defined on which month and day the roads have density and traffic jam and the cuses of the situation are searched. According to the research, there is a remarkable rise in the summer time in a conclusion of tourism events, comparing to winter time. However, its also monitored that the quality of service has fallen in summertime as a consuquence of density at thermal hotels area. Various solutions for traffic problems occur at city are offered in the light of findings about the subject.
