A research on meeting the expectations of tourism and hotel management vocational training teachers on-the-job training in the sector

One of the most quickly developing and changing sectors of 21st century is tourism sector. Tourism enterprises need to provide the continuity of the customers in order to increase the profit gained from the tourism sector by raising the quality of the service offered.Raising the quality of service can be fulfilled with trained personnel. A great part of tourism training starts at secondary school level in Turkey.Tourism and hotel management vocational training teachers have the most important role on training the students with secondary level tourism education to be the future?s qualified personnel.So , the tourism and hotel management vocational training teachers should follow the developments in tourism sector and carry out the innovations.General Directorate of Trade and Tourism Education gives training to the vocational teachers on-the-job training every year.This research has been carried out in order to identify the ecpectations of the tourism and hotel management vocational training teachers and to present the fulfilling percentage.The application part of this research has been carried out in Antalya. The questionnaires have been applied to 210 teachers participating these on-the-job training. The personal characteristics of the participants have been presented as percentage and frequency. The SERVQUAL Technique developed by Parasuraman, Zeithaml and Berry, has been used for the analysis of this research.Hypothesis has been matched and controlled with the T test.The data has been analyzed on the SPSS analysis programme and results on the expectations and perceptions have been acquired.These results have been discussed and suggestions have been proposed.Key words: On-the-job training, Tourism Training, Tourism Sector, Tourism and hotel Management Teacher, Servqual
