An alternative approach in tourism planning; participatory tourism planning; a disquisition in Fethiye

This disquisition aims to search out participatory tourism planning practices which is thought as an alternative approach in tourism planning and participant?s attitudes about the participatory tourism planning. Participatory tourism planning is a tourism development plan which designed with thought and suggestions of local people, government, stakeholders, private businesses and organization. In this content, disquisition?s universe is appointed as Fethiye is town of Muğla / Turkey. Questionary which is formulate for this research?s aims, put into practice in February ? March 2009 in Fethiye to all parties concerned. Questionary is constructed in the frequency grade as 3 grade likert scale ?None (1)?, ?Medium (2)?, ?Much (3)?. 408 questionary rated and the data are evaluated through means, Percentage, Frequency and Khi-square.The result of the analysis likes that; All participant had been declared that, tourism sector needs planning and applicable tourism planning and %77,7 participant had been declared that, formulated tourism planning for their region haven?t been useable for their region. %99 participant have been agreed that, tourism planning should formulate with local people, government?s, stakeholder?s, private business?s and organization?s participations. %95,8 participant have been agreed that, participatory tourism planning more effective than classic tourism planning to protect to cultural, social and natural tourism presentation. %96,6 participant have been declared that have never participate in a tourism planning before. %97,1 participant have been declared that want to more participate in a tourism planning. Finally of this disquisition, that has been searched out to participatory tourism planning practices and participant?s attitudes about participatory tourism planning. And have been improved some suggestion about participatory tourism planning which is an alternative approach for classic tourism planning.
