Inthis study, situational factors effecting the organizational commitment in resort hotelswere diagnosed. In order to determine the organizational commitment, Meyer andAllen?s `three-component model of organizational commitment? was used. Situationalfactors effecting the organizational commitment are: personal factors, role-relatedfactors and structural factors. Situational factors were examined through a questionnairedeveloped by an extensive literature review. Survey was carried out in the five-starresort hotels in Didim, Kusadasi, Cesme and Marmaris, all located in Aegean region. Results indicate that the highest organizational commitment component is to be thecontinuance commitment. Affective commitment takes the second and normativecommitment the third place. It was seen that affective commitment is effected by therole-related factors while continuance and normative commitment are being effected bythe structural factors. There is no significant coherence between the personal factors andorganizational commitment components. According to the results, suggestions weremade in order to increase the organizational commitment levels in resort hotels. It isclear that an increase in organizational commitment will result in better employeeperformance and job satisfaction. By the way it will also contribute to decrease thelabour turnover.
