Abstract (EN)

Family businesses are recognized as important and dynamic participants not only in our country's economy but also in the world economy. It is known that 95% of businesses in our country consist of family businesses. It is obvious that family businesses, whose crucial role in the world economy is undeniable, provide serious employment. Therefore, the growth, coordination, and management processes can be considered as very important steps of family businesses. Institutionalization is also an inevitable situation for the sustainability of family businesses. Accordingly, family businesses that reach a certain volume and cannot be institutionalized are doomed to disappear. Recent researches have proven that the underlying reason for the disappearance of family businesses is institutionalization problems whereas family businesses have to keep up with the ever-changing world dynamics by taking strategically correct and strong steps. The disappearance of these businesses, that are established with great efforts and try to survive in many difficult conditions, creates a great loss both morally and economically. This study aims to determine the institutionalization potentials and related problems in family businesses operating in the tourism sector in Antalya and to offer solutions. The current high touristic potential of the city is the main reason for choosing Antalya as a field of study. In addition to that, the increase in the number of local and foreign tourists makes it necessary to do more studies in this context for Antalya.
