Özet (EN)

The main aim of this study is to examine the regional economic effects of tourism. In the first chapter of this study, a number of consepts were discussed. This are growth and development, regional economic imbalances and its reasons, and solutions to mitigate this imbalances. In the second chapter, the economic effect of tourism on the country, economies were discussed with positive and negative sides. In this context, considered areas are balance of payment, gross national product, domestic prices, government revenues and spending, employment, outer economic sectors, infrastructure and superstructure, interregional balanced development. Moreover in this chapter, regional economic effects of tourism were discussed and some models that are related to the calculations of this effects were given. In this context, considered related to the regional effect of tourism are value added, multiplier, inflation, employment and regional imbalances. In the last part of this study, Kemer as a case study area and South Antalya Tourism Development Project were introduced. The economic effects of tourism in Kemer were analyzed. The main conclusions of this study are; First, the positive effects of tourism on regional employment providing tourism development reduces the number of unemployed people by creating new job opportunities. Second, tourism development minimize imbalances between regions by generating new economic activities in the less developed regions, if the appropriate infrastructure was built. Third, multiplier effect of tourism results more economic activities than initial income would create itself and the value added ratio of its is higher than the other sectors'.
