Social and cultural impacts of tourism: An application in akçakoca

Recently, tourism has caused considerable social and cultural impacts because of its main subject is human and is an activity that has been increasing,. Researching of social and cultural impacts of tourism is important especially to determine the changing of host residents socio-culturel structure. On the other hand, determining the perceptions and attitude of host residents towards tourism activity is an other important factor in order to be able to plan and practice the local national tourism policy succesfully. To be able to determine percepcions and attitudes of host residents will be significant base so that tourism activities can produce positive result fort he region. The aim of this study is to examine the social and cultural impacts of tourism and detemine the perceptions and attitudes of host residents stemming fromt urism activity. For this purpose, a survey has been conducted into 360 local people which live in Akçakoca. In order to describe the data provided, each statement frequency and percentage distribution were evaluated and the connection of each factor that formed the survey to guests demographic characteristics were analyzed by using Independent Samples T-Test and One-Way Anova. According to results, it was absorved the host residents have positive perceptions and attitudes toward tourism activity in the region. Othe other hand, the observation of the host residents about the socio-cultutal impacts of tourism have been showed significant differencess by host residents? demographic characteristics (if they are local people in this region or not).
