Presentation of verbal communication components in turkish proverbs

Abstract (EN)

The Turkish proverbs has played an important role in representing the lives of people belonging to the Turkish culture that has a unique culture of the Turkish community, the spirituality, the sharing of values and philosophy of life and feel the presence of itself to the future generations. These proverbs are evaluated as a product of verbal communication that has an effect of interpersonal communication was the starting point of the thesis. In this scope of work it is aimed to put forth the shape of presentation and transmission of the elements of verbal communication in Turkish proverbs. Putting forth the aspects of both quantitative and qualitative effects on elements of verbal communication in the proverbs, shed light to determine the overlapping and non-overlapping ways of this presence with the elements of interpersonal communication. As a methodology of research, the creation of the work that is applied the content of qualitative analysis, has formed a corporate web site belong to Turkish Language Association called "e- sözlük" and a database including 2396 proverbs named as "Atasözleri ve Deyimler Sözlüğü". It is reached to the findings of analysis with the help of classifying into the categories as "essence of verbal communication", "elements of verbal communication", "shapes of verbal communication" and "difficulties of verbal communication" in presence of theoretical frame of verbal communication and compiling the proverbs that has meaning intended with the phenomenon/ elements/ acquisition of proverbs and chosen in the basic meaning of the word "Purposive sampling" into the creation. As a result of the research, connotation noted in the Turkish proverbs rather than the meaning mentioned itself, mostly pointed out in the meanings of "listen carefully to the adults", "saying the truth", "talking kindly", "effective listening" in verbal communication; "directly and indirectly shape of verbal communication" , "detailed and abstract shape of verbal communication" and "focused on oneself/others shape of verbal communication" used; difficulties of verbal communication most focused on defined as "polarization" and "generalization" identified. It is possible to state that the findings of research made on the proverbs that has the reflection of our culture on verbal communication, mostly overlaps with the literature language of "interpersonal communication".
