Abstract (EN)

Beginning of Turkish banking sector started with Foreigners initiative from the second half of 19th century. Foreign banks have dominated the economy for many years by holding the capital. Beginning from the proclamation of the Republic, with national policies locally-owned private banks had been established. Foreigners? interest decreased to the Turkish economy. Till 1980s, new foreign banks have not been established and no new branches gone into operation. Cause of this is; conservative policies to strengthening local economic dynamics. After implementation of these policies, the share of foreign banks in the sector had decreased.Liberalization policies implemented after 1980, and because of liberalization policies, number of foreign banks increased. with these, foreign banks have become a significant shareholder with ways of opening branches or being partner with domestic banks.İn spite of liberalization policies, the number of Foreign banks, and their of shares of the sector showed no major changes till 2000?s. Especially after the economic strike in 2001 Turkish banking sector has gone into a restructuring process. With this process The market share of Foreign banks increased. By 2010 The market share of Foreign banks became % 49,6.İn the study, Banking concept, growing of bankig sector and outside capital, significance of foreign banking in the Turkish banking sector, and their financial performance between 2006-2012 evaluated and analyzed with graphs and tables.
