Ceremonies and celebrations in Turkish epics

Epic is a product of folk literature that contains all kinds of feelings and thoughts of a nation and reflects its lifestyle. Epics that contain cultural elements and transmit these accumulations to the present day, preserve the cultural treasure of the society in which they were produced and establish a valuable bond between the past and the future. Epic is a valuable treasure for every society. In order for the epic to occur, an event that deeply affects society and can leave a mark for many years must occur. Epics reflect the lifestyle of the society they belong to by containing ceremonies and celebrations that reflect the culture, social life and values of the nations. Epics ensure that national values are revived and kept alive. The ceremonies implemented and adopted in the social life of a nation are a set of rules that must be followed. Ceremonies are announced to the society through any event that brings happiness or sadness. They are also meetings held to strengthen the meaning of an event. Ceremonies take shape over time and become a symbol, thus increasing the value of the celebrated event. The education level, cultural identity, traditions and moral values of societies are revealed through ceremonies and celebrations. Turkish epics are rich in ceremonies and celebrations. Epics allow us to see the values in Turkish geography. Many elements such as birth, taking or giving a name, marriage, death, burial and burial, hosting guests, farewell ceremony, hunting and war preparations, return of the hero, appointment of the kagan, games and entertainments are mentioned in the epics we have examined and are important for human life. It is announced to the society through. Ceremonies and celebrations gain meaning every time they are practiced. This is a very important situation for the survival and continuity of the culture of the society. The clothes worn during the ceremonies, the musical instruments used, the various movements and words displayed aim to keep the ceremony alive and make it stronger. In our master's thesis titled "Ceremonies and Celebrations in Turkish Epics", the ceremonies and celebrations seen in Turkish epics were discussed. Our aim is to provide information about many issues such as social life, practices during birth, marriage and death, eating and drinking customs, based on the ceremonies and celebrations of Turkish tribes. Titles of ceremonies and celebrations related to social life are classified and given. The ceremonies and celebrations in the epics are important for the survival and continuity of Turkish culture. This study was conducted to identify ceremonies and celebrations in Turkish epics. It contains many tribes and epics among Turkish epics. The ceremonies and celebrations in the epics have been tried to be examined under various headings.
