Abstract (EN)

Over the past decade and counting, Ankara's footprint within Africa and including Cameroon has paid off. In 1998, Ismail Cem unveiled the "Opening Up to Africa Policy," but it failed to bear fruits because of the lack of institutional frameworks and resources. In 2005, the AKP coined a novel foreign policy document for Africa baptized "The Year of Africa," which became a new cornerstone, taking off from where 1998 failed. "Opening up to Africa" began by propping up institutional restructuring and organizing resources for the plan. In 2014, Türkiye' crafted the Africa Partnership Policy which is currently in operation via all spheres. This thesis examines the foreign policy impact of Türkiye on Cameroon, focusing on the historical epochs of Turkish-African relations. It argues that Ankara's strategic policy, "Türkiye's Opening Up to Africa," is a blueprint for catapulting Africa-Türkiye relations, particularly with Cameroon. The problem of the statement rest on the fact that despite evolved Türkiye-Africa relations due to changes in Turkish foreign policy, a succinct assessment of the economic relations between TürkiyeCameroon relations on Cameroon was lacking. The aim of the were to identify the historical roots of Turkish-African/Cameroon relations, examine the motivations of Turkish involvement in Cameroon from 2010-2022, and to assess the economic effects on Cameroon alongside the challenges Ankara faces in her relations with Cameroon. Both secondary and primary sources of data collection were utilized in terms of data collection. The theoretical yardsticks used in this work are the World Systems and Middle Power theories. The research uses a multidimensional approach, incorporating diplomatic, economic, and cultural aspects. A concluding remark is Ankara-Yaoundé's ties signifies economic gains and challenges within the CEMAC region with future potentials.
