Omer Seyfettın In Turkısh Thought

In this study, a philosophical examination has been made within frame of the life and works of Omer Seyfettin (1884-1920). Political, religious, and philosophical topics in the works of Omer Seyfettin, who is generally known for his success in literature, have been examined in our study. In order for the subject to be more clarified and for the philosophical background to be seen better, in the first section the relationship between philosophyliterature-science and unity among literature-philosophy-language have been evaluated. As it can be considered that all philosophers have been influenced from the period in which they lived and as events from his own life have been observed in most works of Omer Seyfettin, life of the author and the period in which he lived were also mentioned in our study. In the second part of thesis, information has also been provided relating with tendencies in Turkish thought before Omer Seyfettin, the philosophical studies, the movements that were dominating in the period when Omer Seyfettin lived, and the philosophical orientations and place of Omer Seyfettin in Turkish thought has been mentioned. National Literature Opinion of Omer Seyfettin, being among the main topics making him become so important in literature life and world of thinking and his opinions about New Language have also been among the subjects being mentioned in our study. In the third section of our study, the works of Omer Seyfettin have been given in alphabetical order as a list. Due to the reason that works of Omer Seyfettin are plenty in number, we put our efforts in to choose his works which we considered to have deep philosophical background and to examined them. With respect to the subjects he mentioned in his stories and the areas he focused on, his works have been evaluated under two headings being ideational works and literature works. After first narrating the abstracts of works being evaluated, philosophical background in the works of Seyfettin have been examined.
