Abstract (EN)
Reward and punishment are stimulators intentionally given by a person to ensure that the individual makes a certain behavior. Using the stimulators the desirable emotion and behavior are taught and the undesirable behavior is blocked. In this study, entitled Reward and Punishment in Turkish Folk Narratives, reward and punishments in folk narratives are classified. The concept is analaysed from behavioral point of view. In addition to this, types of reward and punishment are approached from functional point of view and their functions in narratives are emphasized. In this thesis, multi-disciplinary studies are conducted and interpreted by using data from different disciplines such as psychology, philosophy and psychoanalysis. Due to these commentaries, the role of reward and punishment in narratives isn't examined in one dimension but in two dimensions as horizontal and vertical. In the vertical dimension, the historical, philosophical and psychological depths of the reward and punishment in the narratives are explored. In the horizontal dimension, the consequences of the reward and punishment in the visible plane are emphasized. This dimension consists mostly of physical, social and economic elements. Archetypal and ontological analysis is performed in our vertical examination.
