Özet (EN)

Mankind sometimes surrendered against the depth of the sky, sometimes he fell deeply into imaginations, but he always desired to conquer it. This desire became real in the last century. The dream and longing of thousands of years which grow step by step with the studies of Cevheri, Hazarfen Ahmet Çelebi, Lagari Hasan Çelebi, Leonardo Da Vinci, Montgolfier Brothers, Cayley, Kaufman proved to be real with Wright Brothers. The best answer to the question "What is the most significant development of the times?" should be cutting off the feet of the mankind from the ground. The most significant change of times took place in the 20th century. And the most significant tools of this change were the aeroplanes. The improvement that began in aviation had a deep impact throughout the world, and these tools turned out to be killing machines when they began to be used in the military. Understanding the importance of the aviation, states made as much investment on the aerial industry as they colud in order to protect their aerial domain or defeat their enemies. In this study we tried to examine the Turkish Aerial Warfare Industry. Aviation arised in an era in which Turkish Nation was going through great destructions. Despite this, prudent statemen and authorities worked toward the development of aviation in Turkey. But for some reason the work was either incomplete or broken down. Instead of listening to the story again and again, the work was ignored. Recent improvements point to a more stable picture. Our study composes of an introduction and three main headings. In the First Chapter we examined "Turkish Aerial Warfare Industry from Independence War till the end of the II. World War", in the Second Chapter "Turkish Aerial Warfare Industry after the II. World War" and in the Third Chapter is about "After 1980 Turkish Aerial Warfare Industry." In these three chapters we briefly observed the reasons why the Otoman State was left behind while European States were developing, and then moved to the rise of the aviation and the contributions of the Turks on it.We tried to study Atatürk's considerations on aviation and the studies on aerial industry throughout the Turkish Republic history. Besides these international developments from different parts of the world are included. As for the last chapter, we observed the recent studies and the aerial institutions. In the short aviation history, Turkish Nation proved to be a part of the contest, and despite the limited means and resources did not fall behind the improvements taking place throughout the world. However what has been done is very limited when compared to what should be done. Final objective is the directive which was ordered by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk years ago: "From now on all the aeroplanes and their engines should be produced in our country and our aviation industry should be developed in accordance with this principle. ... Taking into consideration the importance of the Air Forces, we should plan the studies to be conducted and keep the public interest on the subject."
