Özet (EN)

Beliefs have a significance place in the Turkish cultural life. Practices brought by the people from past to present have also reached the level of belief through finding a field of application for themselves in daily lives. By taking these as our starting point, we can tell that everything reaching cult level in Turks have a possessor. Earth possessor, sky possessor, water possessor, fire possessor, house possessor, ?. etc. ?Threshold possessor?, like other possessors, has a wide place, through reaching cult level; from birth to death, to other areas of daily life. Due to that reason, it was attempted to conduct a comprehensive study, also including meanings of the word ?threshold? in dictionaries and reference books, the problem of whether or not the threshold belief exists in other cultures, and its place in oral culture products. In the first section of the study general information concerning the concept and the meanings and functions of the threshold concept in other cultures were examined. As for the second section; the threshold possessor and the holiness of threshold, its belief-related dimension and its examples in oral literature products were touched on.Keywords1.Threshold2.Threshold belief3.Threshold possessor4.Oral Culture5.Practices
